Favorite Drug Store Beauty Products

I have been planning this post in my head for a while now but have finally gotten my act together to write it.

Target and Walmart have become my favorite sources for finding makeup these days. Here are a few of my favorites....

Target Pixi  Eye Shadow in Boho Bronze. This looks completely different in person and I swipe it on with a little bit of white shadow under my eyebrow. $15 seems pricey for the drugstore but it has lasted me a while.

Cover Girl Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner in Espresso.  I use this on the top lids only because I have a major problem with eyeliner & mascara running.

Cover Girl Professional Natural Lash Mascara. As revealed above my mascara runs like crazy so years ago I switched to clear.

Hard Candy makes a line for Walmart and I love this Hide & Glow Duo Cheek Tint. I use Pillow Talk 316.

And my favorite lip gloss is Revlon Superlustrous in Shine City.

I also love this cleanser and moisturizer by CeraVe. I am a Cetaphil convert. The moisturizer is SPF 30 and also contains zinc. I wear it all year long.

I love hearing about new products...if you have any you love...please share!

Menu Planner

We didn't have anything planned for the weekend which was a nice change...take it minute by minute. I did a lot of straightening and cleaning and on Sunday, we rode our bikes to the pool and for Slurpees at 7-11! I have been anxious for the kids to get back to school but now that this is our last week, I am feeling sorta sad that summer is over.

Here goes with this week's menu planner....

Sunday - Tilapia Piccata, Corn on the Cob, Wild Rice

Monday - Slow Cooker Chicken Gumbo

Tuesday - Pork Chops with Smoked Gouda & Bacon, Asparagus

Wednesday - Light King Ranch Casserole

Thursday - Brown Butter Gnocci

I was talking to some friends over the weekend and they said they considered the new school year like the new calendar year. And that made me think about resolutions...here are my new school year resolutions:

1. Eat dinner together as a family Sunday - Thursday. I am hoping this will instill better eating habits in my darling but very picky Clyde.
2. Implement chore and good eater chart...15 stickers equal a prize.

I am hoping to stick to them!

Weekend Recap (Trip to DC) & Menu Planner

We didn't have much planned for the weekend so on a whim we decided to plan a road trip to DC. We booked our room Saturday morning at the Embassy Suites Crystal City and then hopped in the car. We got to town around noon, had lunch and then took the Metro into DC to see the National Museum of Natural History. Camille & Clyde thought the Metro was pretty cool! And at the museum we saw dinosaur bones, and cockroaches, and live butterflies. Afterwards, we had ice cream on the National Mall. It was a really fun day and Embassy is perfect for traveling with kids!

We started by making tiaras found at Oriental Trading. I also purchased these jewels for an added touch. 9TableScape
Next we made wands, I found self adhesive stars at Michaels. I glue gunned pre-cut dowels also from Michaels to the back of each star. Then at the party, we pulled off the sticker to reveal the adhesive and then sprinkled glitter on the star. I also purchased these sticker sheets from Oriental Trading. 23Stars&Stickers
We had a castle pinata found here. Side note...I have found that Walmart has the best bag candy for pinatas. 12Pinata
We also played Pin the Kiss on the Frog. I found a frog prince picture in Google images and purchased the poster board at Joanns. I used bowls from around the kitchen to trace and cut all the circles then free hand cut the feet and crown. The princesses seemed to like the game. 18PinKissonFrog 22PinKissonPinata
We served lemonade, water and fruit punch in our tea cups. For snacks, I had butter cookies, pretzels, grapes, gold fish and the butterstar cookies from Martins. The princesses got to take home their tiaras, wands and sticker sheets. The goodies bags also include some Dollar Tree bracelets, bubble rings from Walmart and these flashing rings from Oriental Trading. I think I have covered everything. It turned out to be a really cute party.

Weekend Recap & Menu Planner

My in-laws have a sailboat at Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville, VA. Michael and I used to go on the boat all the time before we had kids. This weekend we went on a kid's cruise and took Camille & Clyde. It was for the most part a success...one of our little sailors came down with a fever but stuck it out pretty well. We left Saturday mid-day and anchored near this small island with shallow water right off the sandy beach. We slept on the boat that night and returned to Deltaville the next morning. We had gorgeous weather.

Here are a few pictures from the trip...
