New House: Family Room...Bye Bye Dark Paneling

Even though it is very far from being complete, I wanted to show you the painting transformation in our family room. The room was so dark before with wood crown molding and wainscoting.

Here are the before pictures....

And after.....

The space is so much brighter! I went with Benjamin Moore's Edgecomb Gray on the paneling, crown molding and trim and then Benjamin Moore's Fog Mist on the walls. It is a pretty large space so we are still figuring out the furniture configuration. And we need lots of artwork!

I love this chair my mom gave me. I had a cushion made with the fabric I scored at an estate sale a few weeks ago.

I painted the bookcase that was in Clyde's room in our old house. (I am dying over this bookcase link...Camille & Clyde are tiny in it!) We couldn't fit it up the stairs in this house so I stashed it in the corner of this room to fill up the space. I painted it the same Edgecomb Gray as the paneling to blend in. I need new knobs and this is just a start to arrangement on the cases. I am working with that I have!

A little paint can go along way to updating a space! Remember this when shopping for a home!

  2. What a difference paint makes! When I renovated, I had the paneling and railing removed and replaced with drywall but I really like your choices! You are such a great decorator!
