Last week, I was fortunate to have the opportunity
to preview the new ALDI on Parham Road prior
to the grand opening. I had never been to an ALDI store and knew very little
about the concept. Some of the most notable facts about ALDI.
ALDI
customers save up to 50 percent* per month on their grocery bills. One way ALDI
is able to keep prices low is by having customers bring their own bags. Paper
bags are available for purchase at 6 cents each or you can purchase reusable
bags at ALDI or bring your own.
After checking out, customers
also bag their own groceries in a staging area near the check out.
Customers also
“rent” a shopping cart. You put a quarter in to unlock the cart and then
get your quarter back when you return it.
Over 90% of ALDI’s products are exclusive brands
and sold only in their stores. However, there are some brand name products that are so
popular with customers that ALDI carries these items on their shelves. My
snack-lover, Clyde, will be happy to hear they have Goldfish!
Clyde’s wine-loving mommy is excited to learn they sell beer and wine! And it
is affordable and award winning! I see this Chardonnay in my future.
ALDI also carries a gluten free line called liveGfree.
We tasted a gluten free snickerdoodle at the store that was delicious! They
also sell organic produce and have a line of Fit &
Active products.
They also sell a variety of
meat and dairy products at affordable pricing. Great place to pick up specialty cheese for an appetizer. We tried
the dill havarti on the store tour and it was yummy!
ALDI also carries some
products you would not expect to find in a typical grocery store. They have a
section stocked with weekly Special Buys and Red Hot Specials that last until
they sell out. For Red Hot Specials, they guarantee customers won’t find
similar products for less anywhere else. I picked up slip
on tennis shoes for Clyde for $6.99!
An example of a Special Buy that is going on right now is home
décor items such as these cute decorative mirrors and baskets.
I need to go back to do more shopping but some of products I
am most excited about are a 12-pack of single serve coffee cups for $4.99.
Also, mixed nuts for $2.49!
I have partnered with ALDI
to offer one of my readers a $25 gift certificate!
