Summer Science Experiments: Butterfly Garden!

Recently, some of Camille and Clyde's best buds told us about their experience growing butterflies! We, of course, had to try. I purchased the Insect Lore Live Butterfly Garden from Amazon. Once you receive the kit, you send off for the larvae.

The larvae stay in the plastic container until they turn into chrysalides. Once you have chrysalides, you move them to the butterfly garden.

Once the butterflies emerge, you feed them with sugar water on fresh flowers. We also used pieces of watermelon to feed them.

Cougar was particularly interested in the project.

After about a week, we let the butterflies go.

Coaxing the last few butterflies to fly....

Next up...build your own volcano!
