Road Trip: Great Wolf Lodge

Let me start this post by saying Great Wolf Lodge would not be one of my top picks for a family getaway but my family loves it so I had to be all in. One Sunday as I pulled into the driveway from showing a house, Michael had just hit the "book now" button on an "amazing" non-refundable deal at the Great Wolf Lodge. If only I had run a couple red lights and been a few minutes quicker. ;)

Last Sunday we left about mid-day and made the quick hour trip to Williamsburg. This was our fourth trip to the Great Wolf Lodge! We had not been for years and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the carpet, bedding and furniture in our room looked new. Our room was on the 4th floor which was also nice because our ceiling was vaulted and made the room seem larger.

We arrived at 1 pm and luckily our room was available, we got settled and immediately went to the park and spent the afternoon there. Camille, Clyde and Michael had all worn their bathing suits in case our room wasn't ready, I had packed mine in a separate water park bag. On this trip, Camille and Clyde were tall enough to do some of the rides by themselves which was a bonus for Michael and me. Oh and they have a new bar in the water park, another bonus.

We ordered pizza for dinner from the hotel pizza place and ate it in our room. There is a sitting area with couch and dining table in each room which is great. This was our first time purchasing the MagiQuest wands for the game around the hotel. C and C seemed to enjoy playing after dinner.  At 7 and 9, I think they are good ages for the game.

For breakfast, there is a buffet but we slept in and opted for donuts in the lobby instead. I wasn't winning any diet awards on this trip....which was great since I was in my bathing suit in January!

We went to the water park on Monday morning for a few hours then quickly came back to the room to shower and check out by 11 am. After one more round of MagiQuest and a visit to the arcade, our trip was complete!

All joking aside, we had a fun time! There is tons to do and it is really set up well for families. I am sure we will be back....
